J&K's FFRC Issues Warning to Private Schools Over Retrospective Fee Charges

The Jammu and Kashmir Fee Fixation and Regulation Committee (JKFFRC), acting upon complaints from parents, has issued a directive to private educational institutions in Kashmir regarding their fee charging policies.

The JKFFRC has observed that several private schools are either in the process of completing admissions or have already done so. However, grievances have been raised by parents regarding certain schools charging fees retrospectively for months when the student was not enrolled or did not avail any services from the school.

In response to these concerns, the JKFFRC has issued a clear order to all private schools, mandating that they refrain from charging fees retrospectively for periods when a student was not officially enrolled. Instead, fees should only be charged from the date of admission onwards.

The order emphasizes that any violation of this directive will result in legal consequences. Schools found contravening the order may face actions such as recommending to the govnment for de-recognition or dis-affiliation. (Kashmir Front)
